OPEN SIGNAL LABS PRESENTS
Black Filmmaker Fellowship Screening
Film at 7pm with a 6:30pm music pre-show DJ set by VNPRT
Celebrate Black brilliance and the future of media at this screening and fundraiser for Open Signal Labs, a new incubator for Black filmmakers based in Portland. This event marks the completion of the first year of the Labs fellowship, which provided career-changing support to six local artists in 2018-19.
Join us as Labs fellows Kamryn Fall, Elijah Hasan, Tamera Lyn, Sika Stanton, Noah Thomas and Dustin Tolman—and staff Ifanyi Bell and RaShaunda Brooks—share excerpts of new works, followed by a Q&A. Their documentary and narrative films address gentrification, Portland police, African identity, music, fashion and more.
Kamal Sinclair of the Sundance Institute will also make a special appearance at the event.
Purchase a standard ticket to the screening, or a $75 VIP ticket, which includes premier seating, a pass to the after-party at the Doug Fir Lounge featuring Brown Calculus and DJ Kream from Oakland; a raffle ticket and a swag bag.
Open Signal Labs is a program of Open Signal, a nonprofit media arts center in Northeast Portland. Learn more about Open Signal Labs at bit.ly/opensignallabs
