In a dystopic but recognizable America, street riots are common, tap water is undrinkable, and you’re lucky if you get health insurance. Regina usually keeps her head down to just get by, especially at work. As a customer service rep for Alleviate (“Keeping you healthy tomorrow, today”), she must reject health coverage for desperate callers all day in order to do her job. But when her younger cousin Abigail is in need of a criminalized medical procedure, she must decide what price she’s willing to pay for justice.
The short film stars Sidony O’neal, Paige Moreland, Ana del Rocío and Peter Schuyler. Directed by Dawn Jones Redstone. Written by Kjerstin Johnson. Produced by Christian Henry.
The Q and A afterward will be co-facilitated by Marilou Carrera and Zeenia Junkeer, two local advocates for reproductive justice.
On Sunday, December 3rd, we’ll be screening the film at the Clinton St. Theater on from 2pm to 3pm. Doors open at 1:30pm.
The event is FREE, but registration is required through Brown Paper Tickets (https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3161997).
We will also be collecting donations at the screening, so please come with checkbooks, cash, or plastic ; )
Donations go toward professionally finishing the film, marketing, and festival submissions. There is a direct relationship between how much money we are able to raise to support We Have Our Ways, and how many people will get to see this film. And of course you are supporting local, independent filmmaking helmed by women (the film had an all-female crew as well).
Made possible by a grant from the Regional Arts & Culture Council. Thanks to Pro Photo Supply for their donation.
